KOICA held conference on green growth action plans

The programme kicked off in April last year, with the participation of the 10 provinces of Bac Ninh, Bac Giang, Vinh Phuc, Quang Nam, Nghe An, Tien Giang, Ha Nam, Ha Tinh, Binh Dinh, and Binh Phuoc.

At the conference, representatives from each province reported results on green growth development from their region, and shared their experiences of implementing and developing these reports.

The parties also discussed the effective implementation of a green growth action plan for 2021-2030, including practical and feasible solutions, and the ability to mobilise resources.

Le Viet Anh, director of the Department for Science, Education, Natural Resources, and Environment said, "These technical reports were built towards the implementation of green growth strategy goals, and they serve as useful input for local authorities to develop and implement green growth action plans on a local level."

Viet Anh went on to analyse financial solutions for these green growth action plans, such as through public-private partnerships or developing of a market for the exchange of emission rights in Vietnam.

The entire green growth plan initiative is part of a larger project promoting energy efficiency investments in Vietnam's industrial sector funded by KOICA. The project is designed to promote the development of energy services companies and create a conducive environment for implementing energy efficiency opportunities, while contributing to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.

The project is a direct result of Decision No.882/QD-TTg 2022, the National Action Plan on Green Growth for 2021-2030. In the one year since Decision 882's implementation, localities have been assigned to formulate and issue their own green growth action plans and socioeconomic development strategies.
