Vietnam is one of the countries being strongly affected by global climate change. In order to demonstrate the determination and political willing in responding to climate change and towards green economic development, the Government of Vietnam has issued policies and strategies on green growth and climate change with medium and long term vision. For instance, the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 1393/QD-TTg dated 25th September, 2012 on Approving “National strategy on green growth in the period 2011-2020 and vision to 2050”. In 2016, the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 2053/QD-TTg on the Plan for implementation of the Paris Agreement on climate change.
On July 1st, 2020, Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) in collaboration with World Bank, Ecology and Environment Institute (EEI) and Energy and Environment Consulting JSc. (VNEEC) organized the Consultant Workshop “Development of a national cooling efficiency management plan” within the framework of K-CEP project.
On March 2, 2020, the Minister of Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment issued Decision No. 528 - QD /BTNMT on awarding the Vietnam Environment Prize 2019 to 22 organizations, 02 communities and 10 individuals who had outstanding achievements in environmental protection activities from 2017 to 2019 (list attached), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Dac Hy, Director of Ecology and Environment Institute (EEI) is one of 10 individuals awarded the Vietnam Environment Prize 2019. Congratulations to Assoc.Prof. Dr. Nguyen Dac Hy, Director of the Ecology and Environment Institute (EEI) for his contributions over the past 50 years!
On 20/9/2019, in Hanoi, the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) in collaboration with the Switch-Asia to co-hosted " Consultation Workshop on Vietnam National Action Plan on sustainable consumption and production 2020 – 2030". Attending the meeting, there are Mrs. Nguyen Thi Lam Giang – Director General of Energy Efficiency and Sustainable Development (MOIT), Mr. Koen Duchateau, Head of Cooperation and Development, Delegation of the European Union in Vietnam together with the representative of ministries, departments, agencies, enterprises, experts, domestic and international organizations, media and press agencies, television.
The workshop was organised on 09th July, 2019 in Hanoi with the participation of more than 100 participants from different ministries, governmental agencies, international organisations and NGOs. There were four main sessions including the morning presentation, following up by the morning panel session, afternoon presentation and afternoon panel sessions. MPI was chair for the morning and afternoon presentation sessions while 2050 Pathway Platform was chair for both panel sessions. Ecology and Environment Institute (EEI) was facilitator for the whole sessions.
